Workshop Overview
Experience an immersive 13-day, landscape & wildlife photography workshop through the spectacular Canadian Rockies alongside renowned photographers Samuel Markham and Tyler Lahanas. Designed for photographers of all skill levels, this hands-on workshop combines expert instruction with unforgettable locations throughout the Rocky Mountains.
From towering peaks and turquoise glacial lakes to alpine meadows, dramatic valleys, ancient forests, and abundant wildlife, the Canadian Rockies offer endless opportunities for exceptional photography. During the autumn season, you'll experience the mountains at their most dramatic, with changing colours, crisp mornings, and the potential for early-season snow.
Samuel and Tyler will guide you through their complete photography workflow — from camera setup, composition, reading light and weather conditions, through to their post-processing approach in Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
You'll return home with new skills, greater confidence, and the knowledge to capture, edit, and create compelling landscape and wildlife images anywhere in the world.

Photo Locations: Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, Sunwapta Falls, Mount Chephren, Wildlife and much more
Group Size: Maximum of 6 participants
Skill Level: Suitable for photographers of all skill levels
Difficulty: Moderate walking — must be comfortable on uneven and slippery surfaces
Accommodation: 12 nights (your own room in local hotels)

The workshop is capped at a maximum of 6 participants. This is well below the industry average of 8 to 12 and is what allows for genuinely personal instruction at every photo location.

Autumn is one of the most rewarding times to photograph the Canadian Rockies. From mid-September to early October, the landscape comes alive with golden larch trees, crisp mornings, and dramatic mountain weather.
This season offers incredible opportunities across Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise with golden forests, turquoise lakes, snow-capped peaks, misty valleys, and beautiful soft light creating unforgettable landscape photography opportunities.

Yes. The workshop is built to suit photographers of all skill levels, from beginners through to experienced enthusiasts. The small group size means instruction is tailored individually to each participant rather than pitched at a generic standard. Camera fundamentals are covered for beginners, while advanced field technique and composition are available for more experienced participants.

A digital camera with full manual mode (DSLR or mirrorless), a sturdy tripod, and at least one wide-angle lens are the core requirements.

This workshop involves a low to moderate level of fitness, with short walks at each location.
Participants must be comfortable on uneven and slippery terrain, often in low light, with head torches used before sunrise or after sunset. Sturdy footwear is essential.
